Badlands is comprised of an instrumental quintet and four vocalists led by Thibaud Kessell who also plays piano on the record. The music is composed and improvised. The blur between each is hard to pinpoint, but there are compositions, melodies and arrangements which the group wend their way through, play as written, or obliterate.
